Jason has extensive experience in the technology industry. He started his career as an electronics technician installing and servicing communications systems, including physical computer networks. During the recession he enrolled in college and went on to join their IT department. While there, not only was Jason recognized for his academic excellence, but he also received the A+ certificate of technical proficiency.
After earning an Associate’s Degree, he matriculated to the University of Hawaii to pursue his growing interest in computer programming.
While in school, Jason applied the skills and knowledge he honed working with the outstanding IT professionals at the college by also helping members of the community with their personal computer problems. As the demand from the community grew, Jason eventually founded his own company and began working exclusively for his own clientele.
Ultimately, the demands of maintaining his high marks at university as well as the high level of customer satisfaction he achieved in his entrepreneurial endeavor necessitated a decision between doing well at one or the other, or mediocre at both. Realizing that most of his course work was available for free or at low-cost online and that he could return to it later if he desired, he chose to put his efforts into business.
After more than 2 years running Lakona Computers, many satisfied customers, and many lessons learned, Jason came to a reckoning that his business was not growing as fast as his passion for programming. He decided to reenter the job market in search of a position that would foster this passion.
Jason is currently working as an application developer for a large multi-national corporation. He does programming side work on Upwork, and has recently started Maui Computer Programming Meetup. His technical/professional interest have led to the study of data science, Progressive/off-line Web Applications (PWAs), and to expanding his knowledge of software engineering. Jason is also interested in theology, philosophy, economics, mathematics – statistics, probability, and chaos – and history. He enjoys hiking, stargazing, and other outdoor activities, as well as reading classical literature. Complexity, art, and freedom piques Jason’s interest and his enthusiasm and passion drive him to keep reaching for deeper email@example.com
